What We Do
Our Mission
"The Wise Performing Arts Guild is a non-profit 501c(3) membership organization dedicated to bringing young performing artists and audiences together, providing education and opportunities, thereby presenting the community with entertainment experiences of the highest standards." WPAG"s goals are to ensure that our love of the performing arts is evident to our patrons in ways that touch the community at large. The Wise Performing Arts Guild does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability or marital status, in any of its activities or operations.
The Wise Performing Arts Guild (WPAG) was founded in 2003 by dedicated parents to support the students and staff of Wise Ballet and Music Academy, owned by Artistic Director Karen Smith. Each year, WPAG funds and produces a full-length classical ballet, showcasing dancers ages 3 to 65+ in a high-quality, professional production.
The Basics
Mrs. Smith, Director of Wise Ballet and Music Academy, choreographs each production, selecting roles based on age, ability, and class size. She also chooses costumes, props, backdrops, and music.
Advanced dancers audition for lead roles before a panel of judges. All dancers prepare through classes and rehearsals for the full-length performance, held at Decatur High School Theater, which seats about 700 per show.
